Spaceship Shootdown Name Picker
Paste your roster, set a battle length, and let the fleet duel it out — the last ship flying gets picked. Works for 2 names or 40.
About the Spaceship Shootdown Name Picker
Names become spaceships that duel it out until only one is left flying, and that last ship is the pick. Press Start the battle and watch the leaderboard while the ships dart around the screen. Battle length can be set from a few seconds to about half a minute.
Ways to use it in class
- Pick a captain for a team game or science-themed lesson.
- Choose who goes first in a review game.
- Add energy to a Friday afternoon wrap-up.
- Decide the order of volunteers for a demonstration.
A lesson idea
Pair this with a science or space topic. Before the battle, ask students to predict which ship will survive and why, then compare the result with their guesses. It is a gentle way to introduce probability: the same list can give a different survivor each time even though every ship had the same chance.
Good to know
It uses the same fair shuffle as every other tool here, so the space theme changes only the look. Turn on No repeats and everyone gets a turn before any name comes up a second time, which keeps it fair over a whole week. Projector mode switches to bigger, higher-contrast graphics so the back row can see the result.
Questions teachers ask
- Does the battle show anything violent?
- The ships trade cartoon lasers and explosions, but no people or animals are involved and it is meant to be playful. Preview it first if you are unsure it suits your class.
- Does it work with a small group?
- Yes, it works with as few as two names.
