Mystery Card Flip Name Picker
Every name gets its own card. They're shown face-up, flipped over, and shuffled — then you choose a card and whoever's name is on it is the winner.
About the Mystery Card Flip Name Picker
Every name on your list gets its own card. Press Deal the cards and they appear face-up so everyone can see them, then flip over and shuffle around the table. When the shuffle stops, you (or the teacher) choose a card, and it turns over to reveal the winner. The shuffle length slider controls how long the shuffling lasts.
Ways to use it in class
- Let a student pick a card to choose who answers next.
- Choose who plays first in a card game.
- Run a calm, hands-on reveal for a smaller group.
- Decide the order for oral reports, one card at a time.
A lesson idea
Make each card a question by listing question topics instead of names, then shuffle and let a student choose a card to see which comes up. Choosing their own card makes a plain list of discussion prompts feel exciting. You can also use it for show-and-tell, letting the class watch the shuffle while they wait to see who shares first.
Good to know
A longer shuffle builds suspense, and a shorter one is better when time is short. Turn on No repeats and everyone gets a turn before any name comes up a second time, which keeps it fair over a whole week. Projector mode switches to bigger, higher-contrast graphics so the back row can see the cards.
Questions teachers ask
- Are the cards shuffled fairly?
- Yes. Every shuffle is a real random shuffle, and the cards are face-down when you choose, so nobody can tell whose name is on which card.
- Can I see all the names face-up?
- Yes, at the start. All the cards are shown face-up for a few seconds, then they flip over and get shuffled.
