About the Duck Race (PixiJS Edition)
This is the same duck race with a different engine under the hood. It uses the PixiJS graphics library, GSAP animation and Howler sound, which makes the movement smoother and the sound effects richer on most devices. The rules are identical: add names, press Start the race, and the first duck across the line is the pick.
Ways to use it in class
- Compare it with the classic duck race to see which looks better on your classroom display.
- Use it on a projector where smooth animation matters.
- Pick a volunteer or decide a speaking order.
- Run a friendly class competition where the winner chooses the next brain break.
A lesson idea
This version suits a larger display, so it works well for assemblies, class competitions and open evenings. Set a longer race, switch on projector mode, and let the whole room cheer for a name. For a quieter lesson, mute the sound and use the shorter race so the picker stays a quick moment rather than a main event.
Good to know
If the animation ever feels slow on an older device, the classic Duck Race uses lighter graphics and gives the same fair result. Sound can be switched off with the Sound option. Turn on No repeats and everyone gets a turn before any name comes up a second time, which keeps it fair over a whole week.
Questions teachers ask
- Is it fair in the same way as the other tools?
- Yes. The winner comes from the same weighted shuffle; the graphics only show it.
- Why are there two duck races?
- The first is lightweight and runs anywhere. This one trades some size for smoother graphics and sound.
